Beach Reach 2011
750 College students from around Texas, Colorado, and Oklahoma went to South Padre Island this spring break. Sixteen of these college students were from the Texas Tech BSM. They did not go down there to party as most others did, instead they went down there to show the love of Christ to their fellow class mates. Over 50,000 college students were on this tiny island during spring break and many were able to hear the Gospel while they were down there. Servant based evangelism was done all week in the form of free rides, free pancake breakfasts and dinners, and witnessing around an eight foot tall sand sculpture of different biblical images. Theses labors of love were backed up by a 24 hour prayer room that enabled our students to pray for specific events that were happening all week. As a result more than 15,000 van rides were given where people heard the Gospel and were prayed for, over 16,000 people were served free pancakes where they also had the opportunity to hear the Gospel and this resulted in hundreds of seeds planted and 67 professions of faith. The great news is that it has not stopped there. Our students have come back with a passion for their peers around them. They have met weekly to pray for the lost on campus and to see God move in a big way.
