  Larry J Jones
 Director of Missions

Our Director of Missions is a graduate of Howard Payne University, received his Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and his Doctor of Ministry from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary.  His doctoral work focused on establishing a multi-cultured church in Lubbock, and upon helping churches become "glocal" (i.e. global plus local equals glocal)

Larry and his wife Linda, have a strong love for missions, having been involved in Border Ministry  since 1970.  Larry wrote the first VBS River Ministry material for Youth, published by LifeWay.  Larry and Linda have participated in numerous mission trips, and have traveled to more than 30 countries around the world.  For 14 years they served the International Baptist Church of Stuttgart, Germany, as missionaries.  People from more than 35 nationalities attended the church on any given Sunday.

Larry also served as pastor of Texas churches, including Main Street Baptist, Grand Saline for 7 years, First Baptist, Hamilton for 3 years, Crestview Baptist, San Antonio for 5 years, and Board Baptist, Comanche for 5 years.  He also served as Associate Pastor at First Baptist, Richardson.

Larry was called to become the Director of Missions for the Lubbock Area Baptist Association on July 17, 2000.  He has led the association to adopt a new paradigm, which focuses on being a catalyst to churches to fulfill the Great Commission, and upon a P.A.R.T.N.E.R. relationship with churches (See home page of the website).  Staff responsibilities have shifted from a focus on programs in education ministries to a focus on serving the churches, and establishing new churches (See staff member Ed Sena).
Larry is the founding pastor of the International Christian Fellowship. (see www.icflubbock.com ). He is the President of the International Baptist Church Ministries, INC, which seeks to support Englis-speaking international churches worldwide.

Larry has also led or participated in multiple tours, including five tours to Israel and the Middle East, one to Turkey of the "Seven Churches of Revelation," and one "European Reformation Tour."  This fall he will serve as an Adjunct Professor for Southwestern Baptist Theology Seminary by teaching biblical Greek.
